Mildred Smith Stokes, age 100, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on June 17, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Henry Melton Stokes.

Mildred retired after 38 years of service from J.P. Stevens Rosemary Mill as a weaver. She joined First Christian Church at the age of 13 and was an active member there for 87 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce ''Javotte'' Stokes Davis and her husband, Tom of Littleton; her granddaughter, Terri Laneau Lewis and her husband, Blane of Manassas, VA; her grandson, Thomas (Tom) Melton Davis of Lorton, VA; her great grandchildren, Joyce Jennifer Lewis and Kathryn (Katie) Lee Lewis, both of Manassas, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 2:00 PM at First Christian Church with Minister Bane Angles officiating.

Entombment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Tarboro, NC.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 20, 2015 in the fellowship hall of First Christian Church from 1:00 until service time.
